Recently, it has come to the attention of the Islamic Foundation that a fraudulent group is using the name and identity of the Islamic Foundation’s head office to contact imams, khatibs, muezzins, and members of mosque management committees at various district, upazila, and union-level mosques across the country.
The Islamic Foundation said in a statement on Saturday that the fraud ring is trying to collect personal and financial information from the concerned individuals by contacting them sometimes by telephone, sometimes by mobile phone, sometimes by social media or through various online channels.
In particular, they are asking for bank account numbers, mobile banking numbers, national identity card information, mobile numbers, mosque salary and allowance information, and other important personal and institutional information.
