When the United States hosts the World Cup, it is inevitable that there will be a record number of spectators. The last time this happened was in the 1994 World Cup. This time too, it is the same. A new record for the highest number of spectators has been set.
It may reach new heights before this tournament is over. Some might joke that the United States may have to host the World Cup again to break attendance records in the future!
There is a reason for that. Take this time. There are 11 venue stadiums in the United States. All of the stadiums were built with baseball, rugby, and big concerts in mind.
No stadium has fewer than 64,000 seats in its gallery. So, if there are three or four matches in the United States in one day, it is only natural that the record for the number of spectators in a single day at the World Cup will be broken.
According to a FIFA report, the previous record for the highest total attendance at a single World Cup was broken on June 25. The number of spectators present in the stadium until that day was 3,65,357.
Since then, this number has been increasing continuously. The previous record of 3,587,538 spectators was set in the 1994 World Cup. Coincidentally, that World Cup, 32 years ago, was also held in the United States.

FIFA’s figures so far show that a total of 4.644 million people attended the group stage matches. On average, 99.7 percent of the stadiums were filled with spectators. On average, 64,508 spectators were present at the field per match in the group stage.
