A housewife named Shahnaz Akhter (25) died after being bitten by a poisonous snake hidden in a cupboard in Begumganj Upazila of Noakhali.
He died while undergoing treatment at the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital on Sunday (July 12) around 4:30 pm.
Earlier in the afternoon, the incident took place at Chaprashi house in Mirwarishpur village of Mirwarishpur union of the upazila. The deceased, Shahnaz Akhter, is the wife of Zayed Hossain of that village.
Locals said that Shahnaz was cooking as usual in the morning. At noon, when she reached to take onions from the cupboard, a poisonous snake hiding inside bit her.
He fell ill and his family members initially tried to treat him locally.
Later, he was taken to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital at around 2:30 pm. He died there at around 4:30 pm while undergoing treatment.
